    Regional Bargaining Report # 17

    IBEW T-6, CWA District 1

    Monday, July 20, 2015

The IBEW System Council T-6 and CWA District 1 Regional Committees met with the Company today at the Rye Town Hilton in Rye, NY.

On Friday the Company responded to the Union’s request for information on call centers which we requested over two weeks earlier.  After reviewing the information over the weekend we found that it was incomplete and incorrect. Today the Union criticized the Company’s committee for not providing all the data, and demanded all of the information that was mysteriously left out.

Next on the agenda was a presentation on the Company’s Pension Proposal.  After listening to 5 minutes worth of their retrogressive and insulting pension presentation/proposal, the Union made it clear to the Company that we are looking for improvements to the Pension Plans not diminishments to our retirement security.

This Corporation has no respect for the members of our Union who have built this Company.

Verizon made over $30 BILLION in profits for 2nd quarter 2015 and is on pace to make over $130 BILLION in profits for the year. They want to increase that profit at the expense of our families and the middleclass way of life we have fought and sacrificed for. If you weren’t outraged before you should be now.

There will be a rally Thursday July 30th, 6PM at Bowdoin Square, Boston. We need to show Verizon that we are united and will do whatever it takes to get the fair contract we deserve. Please make every effort to attend.
